Parameter for ordering of content and sidebar

The below procedure is not necessary because we implemented parameter to show sidebar on the left or right.

  • If you want to position mediawiki sidebar on the left just add this line to your_wiki/LocalSettings.php file
$gmwSidebarFirst = true;
  • If you want sidebar to be on the right just remove the line or set the parameter to false:
$gmwSidebarFirst = false;

How to change layout of the sidebar and content?

In our free mediawiki skin we use cool grid960 framework. grid960 css supports really ease re-ordering of the content sections. This allows us to change sidebar and content appearance order. In html content they will still come in the same order that is really good for SEO. The change happens only because we apply different CSS classes.

  • Look for this line in GMWFreeBlue.php (GMWFreeGree.php or GMWFreeRed.php). It is located in your_wiki_root/skins folder.
 <div id="column-content" class="grid_12">

  • replace with this code
 <div id="column-content" class="grid_12 push_4">

  • look for this line
 <div id="column-one"<?php $this->html('userlangattributes')  ?> class="grid_4 omega">

  • replace with this
 <div id="column-one"<?php $this->html('userlangattributes')  ?> class="grid_4 pull_12">

Basically you can apply all the tricks of grid960 framework even in the wiki page content!
